For months, visions on Herb frolicking on Daytona Beach in a lime green mankini
excited and titillated kept us all going in these hot summer months as our trip to sectionals quickly approached.
But alas, the USTA decided that next to flesh eating viruses and sharks, that was a sight that could create a panicked rush of beachgoers, so we are playing in Altamonte Springs instead, Aug. 14-16.
That means hard courts at Sanlando Park, Bobby G’s and late night Fireball shots.
I will be signing up the first eight players to commit as per USTA rules (and you can all pay me $30), and after that individuals can sign up.
All the info is here, but like I said, don’t register yet. I’ll let you know when we get the initial eight.
As for playing time, I make no guarantees. We’ll start out with our strongest lineup and see where that takes us. The goal is to advance out of our pool with a first- or second-place finish, and then see if we can make magic happen. If not, there’s always Pabst Blue Ribbon and Texas Hold-Em at Bobby Gs.
If you can’t go, but want the shirt, your entry fee gets you a t-shirt and, if it’s the same as last year, a $25 gift card to Tennis Warehouse.
