IMG_6911TAMPA — Scott Jankes and Marisa Martin, coming off a disappointing loss at the hands of John Slatniske and Nini Torres, made history Sunday by winning the first ever line for the HG6, the 6.0 mixed doubles team playing in the 7.0 division.

Jankerisa, as the Hollywood Press has dubbed them, have emerged as HG6’s top team in recent weeks. With their deliberate, mind-numbing, return-the-ball-at-all-costs style in full effect, the duo beat a 7.0 team from Brandon 6-3, 6-3 in a match that no one saw because IMG_6902everyone went home and showered and took their kids to brunch and came home and watched the Wimbledon final on TV before reading War and Peace cover to cover, causing them to miss the first set, after which it was clear Jankerisa was well on the way to victory.

The award-winning HGGMBlog was on the scene, capturing the historic winning shot. Sadly, the photographer forgot to remove the lens cap.

If you look real closely….

Because HG6 has had to play up in competition, it has endured a seasonlong beatdown. It lost the overall match to Brandon 2-1, but that ended a streak of six straight 3-0 losses. IMG_6898In fact, the two sets Jankerisa won were the first of the season for HG6, though there have been some close calls.

“I thought we played well despite the clouds and I read books but they don’t fill me up orange juice is good squeezed and fresh but flat tires can really take the wind out of a beach sand in the hat that really made me think green flowers don’t migrate north unless wood floors and the Saratoga horse track give back to Scott’s elegance in farming but not country music,” said Marisa. “That, and I served well.”
